Haliyal: A 28-Year-Old woman, wife of Haliyal police sub-inspector Mallappa Hugaar allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan in their house on the early hours of  Wednesday here at Haliyal.

The deceased has been identified as Vijayalaxmi Hugaar.

It is learned that the incident came to light in the early morning around 7:30 am when her husband return from the duty. Noticing the wife's body hanging, shocked PSI screamed, which as a result all the neighbors including CPI gathered at their house.

The body was then shifted to the government hospital for post-mortem. Hundreds of people including MLC S L Ghotnekar, Ex MLA Sunil Hegde, and tahsildar Vidyadhar Gulgule visited the hospital.

It is said that Vijayalaxmi married PSI Mallappa Hugaar six years back and is being survived by two sons. The reason behind her suicide is yet to be ascertained and police are invistigating the case
