Karwar: Seeking regularising of her service, a data entry operator, working in Bhavikeri Gram Panchayat in Ankola taluk of Uttara Kannada district, staged hunger protest at the panchayat premises on Wednesday.

Thirtytwo year old Surekha Naik has been working as data entry operator in the GP from the past eleven years, but her service has not yet been regularised by the Uttara Kannada Zilla Panchayat. Whereas, service of those who worked for three to four years in the same post at other GPs is confirmed. So, in protest of this she staged protest and demanded confirming her service too.

Manju Naik, husband of Surekha, told Bhavikeri GP had sent a proposal to Zilla Panchayat seeking to regularise her service, but the latter has turned down the request for no legitimate reason. Meanwhile, the protester said, injustice was meted towards her by regularising job of other data entry operators of other GPs.
