Mundgod: Congress MLA from Yellapur Shivaram Hebbar was felicitated at Mundgod on Wednesday.

The party workers took him in a procession in an open vehicle, and felicitated him at Devgna meeting hall. It is his second stint as MLA.

Speaking after receiving the felicitation, Hebbar stated that the areas with more number of rich and intellectuals had not voted for him, but the areas with more number of poor and honest people had voted for him.

“The margin of victory could be less, but ultimately the victory was ours. I dedicate this victory to the party workers. I cannot repay the favour shown by the people of the taluk in this life time, and I thank them thousand times,” he said.

He said, though there was a BJP wave in surrounding eight constituencies, it was only in Yellapur constituency people had voted for trust, love and reliability.

He declared that his target during second term was to make entire taluk irrigated area. He advised voters not to pay heed to TV channels who had been stating he was a rebel MLA. He made it clear he was a loyal party worker, and would abide by party’s decisions.
