Bhatkal: An 18-year-old youth drowned after a traditional fishing boat capsized amid strong sea waves in the Arabian Sea off Bailur in Bhatkal taluk.
The deceased has been identified as Naveen Ganapati Harikanth, a resident of Bailur and a college student.
Naveen had gone fishing with his friends in a traditional boat, which reportedly capsized due to strong sea waves, following which he fell into the water. His body was later recovered from the sea.
Based on a complaint filed by the deceased's father, the Murdeshwar police have registered a case. PSI Lokanath Rathod is conducting further investigation.
