Mangaluru: Three youth were allegedly assaulted by knives and sharp weapons by an unidentified group of around 30 people, at Thota Bengre on Tuesday night. The victims were returning from a Fishermen's conference organised by BJP at Malpe in Udupi district.

One of the youth is identified as Amir Beary (19), while the names of the other two are yet to be known. It is said that they were residents of Thota Bengre. All three were admitted to a local hospital.

A case has been registered at Panambur police station and the police have provided heavy security at Bengre to prevent any further untoward incident.
