CM Siddaramaiah expresses satisfaction over expedited case resolution in revenue courts; Directs revenue minister to ensure quality

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed satisfaction over the swift disposal of pending cases in revenue courts.

During a review meeting at his official residence, Krishna, the Chief Minister emphasized that reducing the backlog is not enough—maintaining quality in case resolutions is essential to minimize appeals. He directed Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda to focus on this aspect.

The minister reported that when the current government took office, over 10,000 cases had been pending for more than 10 years. Now, only 369 cases remain in the Tahsildar courts.

Additionally, 65% of land mutation cases are now being processed within a single day, thanks to automation. The Chief Minister instructed that land conversion processes must be completed within a month.

Strict instructions were given to officials to ensure that citizens face no inconvenience or unnecessary delays in mutation and land conversion cases. The CM also ordered that cases in Tahsildar courts be disposed of within three months.

It was revealed that 36% of cases in district magistrate courts have been resolved within the past year. However, the pace of disposal in Assistant Commissioner courts remains slow due to technical reasons, which were detailed by Minister Krishna Byre Gowda. The Chief Minister directed officials to resolve these issues within a set timeframe.

Modern technology is being utilized to reform the revenue system, including drone surveys and digitalization of land records. So far, over 8 crore land documents have been digitized, and 2.22 crore land accounts have been linked to Aadhaar, helping curb the creation of fraudulent documents.

The CM also ordered that proposals be submitted to provide ex gratia compensation to farmers who have occupied government land for years. Additionally, the conversion of 3,800 habitations into revenue villages is underway and must be completed within the designated timeframe.
