Udupi: Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara has announced that approximately 15,000 job openings within the police department will be filled gradually. He mentioned that a significant number of vacancies will arise due to the retirement of constables, and there is also a shortage of sub-inspectors. The minister assured that efforts will be made to prevent any delay in increments and promotions for senior officials. Additionally, he emphasized the need to strengthen the Coastal Security Police and affirmed that despite a reduced Maoist threat, there are no plans to disband the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF).

Regarding the surge in cybercrimes, Dr G Parameshwara stated that police personnel will undergo specialized training to handle such cases. Furthermore, there will be a focus on raising awareness about the importance of promptly filing complaints during the "golden hour" to assist in apprehending criminals. The minister also highlighted that he has set specific time frames for resolving cases. When questioned about the inappropriate inquiry into the Suvarna Tribhuja fishing boat tragedy, he assured that he will thoroughly investigate the matter before taking any action.
