Sirsi: As many as 13 houses and a cowshed were damaged following heavy rain and wind witnessed across Sirsi taluk on Friday evening.

This includes two in Sirsi town, four in Bellankeri village and one each in Kupagaddem Belale, Bomannalli, Narebail, Vadgeri, Hosakoppa villages.

In Chipagi village, a cowshed got completely damaged.

In Badangod area, jowar and paddy were harmed. The jowar plants that had begun developing ears literally bent towards the ground. 

In Bisalkoppa area, the grains of the paddy crops have been damaged.

As per a primary survey, loss to the tune of Rs 7.5 lakh to houses has been estimated, informed revenue department officials. 

Farmer leader Raghavendra Naik Kiravatti has urged the government to provide compensation to the farmers who have faced losses without any delay.
