Ankola: A goods train plying from Mumbai to Mangaluru was miserably derailed on 6th September, Tuesday at around 4PM between Ankola and Gokaran Railway station near Belse in Ankola taluk, which resulted in missing a huge tragedy.
Official sources say that, the last two loaded goods wagons of train had missed a link and was derailed due to a collapse of hilly region, after which the train moved to certain distance unknowingly. Observed this by a trackman Manjappa, immediately informed the authorities and made train stop.
Until the authorities arrive for further investigations, the trains namely Matsyaganda express, Mangalore Mumbai CST express, Ernakulam-Pune express are delayed for over six hours.
According to railway sources, 3 passenger trains Mangalore - Madgaon Demu train, Madgaon - Mangalore passenger train and Madgaon - Mangalore Intercity train has been cancelled.
