Siddapur: The town police have arrested two persons, on the charges of lifting batteries worth Rs 2.50 lakh, installed in a mobile tower at Bidrakana in the taluk, on Monday.
The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Jabi Riyaz Ahmad (32) and Mohammed Juber Abdul Mazeed (30), residents of Bengaluru.
Police recovered 46 batteries and a pick-up vehicle, in which the accused tried to transport the batteries, said police.
It is said that Airtel Engineer Aurnkumar M has filed a complaint on Sunday, about the theft of batteries at the mobile tower. Later, based on a tip-off, the investigating police raided two people and arrested them.
The police team was led by CPI Joy Anthony, ASI Geetha Shirsikar, Dattatreya Naik consists of staff Gangadhar Hongal, Karibasappa Ingalsur, Ganapathi Sherugar, Raghavendra Naik, Ravi Naik and Homeguard Ambiga.
