Bhatkal: A 35-year-old fisherman allegedly died by suicide at his residence near Mundalli in Bhatkal taluk, police said.

The deceased was identified as Harish Govind Moger, a resident of Keptimane-Havalikantha.

According to police sources, Harish had reportedly been under mental distress due to personal reasons. He allegedly hanged himself using a saree tied to an iron rod fixed for the installation of a ceiling fan in the kitchen of his house.

A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
