Two killed in a tragic road accident at Kumta NH66

Kumta: Two persons including a 6-year-old boy died in a road accident at Mirzan NH 66 when a car in which they were travelling hit against a wall along a roadside bridge.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Kareem s/o Salahuddin Shaikh (6) and his uncle Abdul Maajid Khan (42), both residents of Saralgi village of Honnavar. It is said that Abdul Maajid was driving the car.

The accident occured on Friday at around 6:30 am morning when their speedy car rammed into a bridge after loosing the control on steering over the speed, causing death of two people and letting six sustain grievous injuries.

It is said that, the car was heading towards Saralgi in Honnavar after dropping Abdul Maajid Khan's brother Musheer Khan to Goa airport. Musheer Khan was on his way to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia where he is employed.

The injured included Musheer Khan's wife Fathima Nida (21), deceased Abdul Maajid Khan's wife Jamila bi (30), their two sons, one and a half year old baby Abdul Kareem Khan and  Abdul Jawwad Khan (10), thier sister in law and the mother of deceased boy, Nazeera bi w/o Salahuddin Shaikh (35)  and her daughter Maseeha Salahuddin Shaikh (15). Fathima Nida is shifted to Honnavar hospital while others were taken to Mangalore and Manipal hospitals.

The police personnel rushed to the spot as soon as the information was received and conducted necessary investigations. Also, were successful in handling the traffic breakdown.

In this regard, a case has been registered in Kumta police station.
