Mangaluru: In an incident reported in Ullal, approximately 200 workers from Baraka Fish factory Ullal and a few residents of Natekal have fallen sick after eating the head portion of a particular fish.

The affected people are admitted to hospitals in Deralakatte. Four people were said to be critically ill and were admitted in ICU.

It is said that the people fell ill after eating the head of a fish named Mutte. The incident took place on Friday night.

The sources said that the scarcity of beds in the hospital made several patients to return home after getting treated as out-patients in various hospitals in Thokkottu and Deralakatte.

The victims include four members of a same family in Natekal Urumani who fell sick after buying fish from Mangaluru dock and consuming it. They are also getting treated in the ICU of Deralakatte hospital.

Similarly, three children from a house in Ullal were also being treated in the same hospital, it is said.
