Mangaluru: Minister of Skill development and Entrepreneurship and Livelihood and Higher Education Dr C N Ashwath Narayan said that permission has been accorded for setting up 217 micro food processing enterprises in Dakshina Kannada district under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME).
Speaking after inaugurating Sanjeevini Mahila Okkuta women members' convention organised by the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood, he said that a building will be constructed in each gram panchayat for the use of self help group members, so that they can prepare as well as store the products.
Works on such buildings are under progress in various gram panchayats. Self Help Groups under National Rural Livelihood Mission are doing good works and all efforts will be made by the government to strengthen the SHGs. There are 20 lakh SHG members in Karnataka and Dakshina Kannada has over 60,000 SHG members under the NRLM.
To certify the hand-made products of the SHGs, the government has given the name, Sanjeevini, for the products. Market linkages are provided for online marketing of the products as well. Skill training will be imparted to the members. The business transaction of the SHG members will be digitalised, he added.
