Kundapur: In a ghastly collision between Ambulance and a Tanker that happened in Kota Manur near Kundapur in Udupi district, at least three persons were killed and two others including a woman was seriously injured. The mishap happened in the early hours of Saturday, 27th October.
The deceased have been identified as Ullas Talekar, Arvind Talekar and the Shailesh Talekar, all residents of Karwar.
Sources said that the accident happened when the family members of Ullas Talekar who was a heart patient, were taking him from Karwar hospital to Mangaluru hospital for advanced treatment. When the ambulance reached Kota Manur, the ambulance driver lost the control over the vehicle and rammed into the road divider, and then collided with the lorry. The impact of collision was such that all the three victims died on the spot. Sadhana Ullas, wife of Ullas, and Ashok Bhadkar, a relative of Ullas sustained severe injuries and have been admitted to Manipal hospital. Ambulance driver Raghavendra sustained minor injuries.
Bodies were then shifted to Kundapura government hospital. The ambulance was completely damaged in the accident.
A case has been registered in Kota police station.
