Honnavar: At least 3 persons were killed on the spot and around 7 sustained injuries after the SUV car in which they were traveling in overturned near Arolli region in Honnavar taluk on Tuesday morning.

The deceased are identified as Fatima (65), Rukayya (45) and Chabusab, all residents of Anandpura in Sagara taluk of Shivamogga district. 

The injured victims were shifted to Manipal hospital after giving first aid treatments at Honnavar government hospital.

The accident happened when the family were returning to their native Anandpur after attending a marriage function in Goa.

A case has been registered in Honnavar Police station.
