65-year-old man dies after sustaining burn injuries in Bhatkal

img-20260807-wa0021.jpgBhatkal: A 65-year-old man died after sustaining burn injuries at Bermu-mane village near Shirali in Bhatkal taluk. The deceased has been identified as Lachayya Durgappa Naik.

According to a complaint filed by his wife, 55-year-old Mastamma Lachayya Naik, the incident occurred sometime between 10.30 am and 6.30 pm on August 6. She stated that Lachayya may have set himself on fire after becoming distressed over personal reasons, or that the incident could have occurred after he accidentally caught fire.

The woman told police that she had no suspicion regarding her husband's death.

Based on the complaint, Bhatkal Rural Police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the incident.

Police visited the spot and conducted a spot inspection before sending the body for post-mortem examination.
