Dubai: The contributions of Kannada Mitraru (Kannada Friends), an organisation based in Dubai that provides free online Kannada classes to children of Kannadigas living abroad, were recognised at a special programme organised at a resort owned by its active member, Nazeem Patel (SP), in Dubai. The programme was held to appreciate and felicitate the entire team for its efforts in promoting the Kannada language among the younger generation.
Addressing the gathering, Nazeem SP said that people from Karnataka should learn their mother tongue and ensure that the younger generation remains connected to Kannada, irrespective of the country they live in. He described the initiative to provide free online Kannada classes to children of Kannadigas settled abroad as a valuable service and said that individuals and organisations involved in such educational and linguistic initiatives deserved encouragement.
Speaking on the occasion, Kannada Mitraru president Shashidhar Nagarajappa thanked Nazeem SP and said admissions were open for the next batch of the organisation's Kannada Paathashaale (Kannada School). The last date for registration is November 1, and classes are scheduled to begin on November 7.
He said a team of around 50 Kannadigas based in Dubai was voluntarily working to familiarise the younger generation of overseas Kannadigas with their mother tongue and help them gain proficiency in the language. Thanks to the team's efforts, more than 1,000 students have already registered, exceeding expectations. However, registrations will remain open until November 1.
Shashidhar Nagarajappa appealed to Kannadiga families living abroad to enrol their children in the free online classes and contribute towards teaching Kannada to the younger generation and promoting the language.
Classes will be conducted online through Zoom every Friday and Saturday at different learning levels. New students can register through the following link:
