Kumta: Fire brigade personnel fought a major blaze of fire which had engulfed at a flowers' shop near Gokarna in Kumta taluk on Monday early morning.
It is said that the accidental fire erupted in the shop due to short circuit, which came in contact with exploding gas cylinder, and gave a major ugly turn when it caught the set of crackers which were stocked illegally in the shop. The shop belonged to Purushottam Pai.
No-one was believed to be inside the building at the time the fire broke out. Smoke was seen billowing across nearby roads due to the incident. Locals in hundreds had gathered near the spot and extended their help for fire brigade team in extinguishing the flame.
Gokarna police personnel rushed to the spot and registered the case.
