Bhatkal: All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) General Secretary Maulana Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi inaugurated the newly renovated Rashida Jukaku Hall at Al-Kausar Girls College on Basti Road during his visit to Bhatkal on Tuesday.

He also visited the adjoining Wisdom Special School and reviewed the education, training and care being provided to children with special needs. Mujaddidi interacted with the students and appreciated the efforts of the institution and its staff in their education and care. He also offered prayers for the children’s health and well-being.

Al-Kausar Girls College chairman S M Syed Shakeel said the Wisdom Special School is open to children with special needs from all communities and currently has 25 students. The school is supported by two teachers and two other staff members under the supervision of Husna Jukaku.

The college offers a three-year Diploma in Islamic Studies for students who have completed matriculation or second PUC, including instruction in Quran memorisation and Arabic. It also offers a one-year Diploma in Home Science, which includes basic medical and nursing training, as well as training in tailoring, embroidery, mehendi designing and cooking.

The programme began with a Quran recitation by Wisdom Special School student Nooran. AIMPLB member Atiqur Rahman Muneeri introduced Mujaddidi, while Al-Kausar Girls College secretary Maulavi Yasir Barmawar Nadvi compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.

Nadvi said the hall was named after late Rashida Jukaku in recognition of her long contribution to girls’ education. She served for around 37 years at Anjuman Girls High School and College, including as headmistress and principal, and later rendered about eight years of voluntary teaching and training services at Al-Kausar Girls College.

Chairman of the Tarbiat Education Society Ekkeri Mohammed Iqbal, Al-Kausar Girls College principal Nabira Mohtisham and other staff members were present.
