Bhatkal: More than 300 students from across the district have taken part in over four different activities in a event named 'STEM 18', a mega fest that began at Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management, Bhatkal on Monday, as part of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen’s centenary celeberation.
The four major activities included π (pie) rate, Model Expo, Tech Roadies and RavenClaw. The models were based on different concepts in physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics and also regarding conventional and non-conventional energy sources.
Present as a chief guest, Dr. Muhammad Zubair Kola, after inaugurating the function, spoke about the advancement of technology. He said, "we are leaving in the age of technology, where we can't survive without it. It has become an inseparable part of our life". But it depends on the individual how it should be used, he noted.
Co-ordinator of the fest, Kaleemuddin, said that the only intention behind organizing this event was to identify the hidden talents among the students and motivate them to inculcate interest in science and research activities.
The 'STEM 18' was inaugurated by unveiling the logo of STEM by chief Guest Dr. Zubair Kola and the ceremony was presided by Vice-President of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen Abdur Rahman Batin.
Prinicpal of AITM Dr. Mustaque Bhavikatte welcomed the gathering, while HOD of MBA department Zahid Kharuri introduced the guest and Dr. Phalachandra delivered the vote of thanks.
Additional secretary Ishaque Shahbandri, College board secretary Abubakar Kasimji were among the dignitaries present on the dais.

1st place - Pradyot Hegde of MES Chaitanya PU college, Sirsi.
2nd place - Fathima Enas of Anjuman PU college, Bhatkal.
• Tech Roadies:
1st place - Aysha Shazam and Nehrin of Anjuman PU college, Bhatkal.
2nd place - Eyam Ismail and Neha Naaz of Anjuman PU college, Bhatkal.
3rd place - Jasika Pinto and Tayyab Momin of Anand Ashram college, Bhatkal.
