Bhatkal: The vote of confidence which was presented against the PLD bank manager from the bank directors took a serious turn when both the parties presented two different orders from the High Court to the bank election commissioner. When the date was not being fixed for the vote of confidence by the directors, the court ordered that the meeting be held immediately and present the results to the court in an enclosed envelope. On 22nd October, just before a day of hearing, the bank president Sunil B Naik came forward with the stay order for the vote of confidence  and this put the election commissioner into utter confusion sensing the two different orders in front of him.

A meeting was held on 22nd October Saturday, where no any firm decision was taken regarding the vote of confidence, and it was decided that the views of directors would be forwarded to the High Court.

It is said that from the day the directors have presented the vote of confidence against the bank president, both the parties are indulged in blaming each other and playing the politics against the opposition. And finally, when the movement was a day ahead, the president of PLD bank, Mr. Sunil Naik had brought up the stay order which had further complicated the issue.

The bank president Sunil Naik with the help of court has challenged the vote of confidence which was hatched against him and was successful in bringing the stay order for 6 weeks.

The meeting which was held on 22nd October was attended by 11 directors. A difference of opinions among various directors relating to the vote of confidence evoked high tension at the meeting hall.  Bank president Sunil Naik, directors Mahadev Naik and Damoder Gradekar refused to sign the vote of confidence, whereas Vitthal Naik was absent in the meeting. On the other hand the directors who signed in the favor of vote of confidence were Ishwar Naik, vice president of bank Mahesh Naik, Devidas Nagappa Naik, Suresh Jattayya Naik, Ishwar Subray Naik, Manjunath Durgappa Naik and Mastamma Mastappa Naik. All the members who signed in the favor of movement alleged that they were not satisfied with Sunil Naik being the president of the bank and they were fed up of his system. So they said that they have brought up the vote of confidence against him and demanded that it be fulfilled and their views be presented in front of Bengaluru High Court. Since two different cases regarding vote of confidence were filed at the High Court, it is decided that the further decision would be taken only after taking guidance from the court. The meeting was postponed and it is believed that the details of the meeting would be presented before the court on Monday, after which the court decision will be awaited.

Protest in front of the bank:

With the confirmation of the meeting held on Saturday, hundreds of supporters of bank president Sunil Naik held a protest in front of bank and shouted slogans against vice president of Kaskard Bank, Ishwar Naik and the election commissioner. When the protesters tried to enter the meeting hall they were stopped by the police, following which there was a tussle between protestors and police officials. The protestors presented the stay order in front of the police and the tahsildar and expressed their anguish over it. As soon as the bank president Sunil Naik came out with the news of postponing of the date of movement, his supporters rejoiced by garlanding him with flowers. The supports also burst crackers and he was taken till the Shamshuddin Circle in a procession.

Sensing the sensitivity of the situation, tight security was put across the bank under the guardianship of the DySp Shiv Kumar, CPI Suresh Naik and CPI Kumar Swamy.
