Karwar: Uttara Kannada MP Anantkumar Hegde said the Union government has introduced newnorms for animal slaughtering, not just for the cow. He charged intellectuals with distorting the facts and giving communal twist to it.

Speaking to the press persons he told that some people are making an issue without having a proper knowledge on what actually the Centre is intended to change.

“Some ‘biased’ intellectuals are misleading the people. Whoever eats food and drinks water of this land should also respect the culture of the land,” he said.

“Cow was never the food of Muslims and no Muslim country in the world supports cow slaughtering. Only to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus, some are supporting cow slaughtering, which is condemnable,” he added.

“Nowadays, even Muslim community members are speaking against cow slaughtering, to respect the sentiments of Hindus. They have also expressed support to the proposed changes in animal slaughtering norms put forth by the Centre,” he further added.
