Ankola: A house and the household articles literally turned into ashes in a domestic gas cylinder blast at Algeri village in Ankola taluk on Monday night. Loss of around Rs 85 lakh was incurred in the mishap.

The house belonged to Ganapathi Narayan Nayak of Algeri.

None hurt:

The mishap took place at around 9 pm. Grains, clothes, gold ornaments and other household articles worth over Rs 85 lakh were gutted. Luckily, none were injured in the accident.

Fire fighters of Ankola taluk and the Naval Base rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.
