Eight accused gets six years imprisonment for damaging property and assaulting HESCOM staff in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: The eight accused who were arrested for damaging furniture and assaulting the staff of Heble HESCOM office in Bhatkal, were sentenced with six years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 2.32 lakh by the Judicial Magistrate of Bhatkal First Class Court on 26th September, Tuesday.

According to sources, the eight accused had dropped into the HESCOM office at Heble on 25th September 2013 and assaulted the staff along with destroying the office property. A complaint was filed with Bhatkal Rural Police Sub-Inspector T H Manjunath regarding this matter.

He then submitted the charge sheet to the court, after investigating the case against the accused people. The Magistrate of First Class Court, which probed the long list of cases, charged the convicts total of Rs 2.32 lakh and sentenced them to six years of rigorous imprisonment.

The court has ordered the accused to pay Rs. 1,39,000 to the prosecution and the remaining amount of fine to the government.

Public prosecutor Indira Naik has argued against the accused.
