Mangaluru: Four people have been arrested by the City Crime Branch (CCB) police on 12th July, Wednesday with regard to the attack on a tempo driver at Azad Nagar in Ullal on Tuesday.
The accused were identified as Jalal alias Jalaluddin (28), a resident of Melangady, Ullal, Arfan alias Appu (25), a resident of Someshwar, Jafar Sadik (20), a resident of TC Road, Ullal, and Muzammil (22) of Talapady.
The victim Austin Monteiro (28), s/o Lawrence Monteiro, a resident of Uliya, was attacked in an incident of road rage by a group of miscreants on Tuesday. When he refused to move his tempo, the accused started assaulting him and one of them stabbed him using a knife. luckily, he managed to escape and fled to a hospital in Ullal.
The CCB police who took up the investigation collected information about the black car and found that the accused had escaped to Mysuru. Based on the information, the police intercepted the car near Kallugundi in Sullia and arrested the accused.
Under the direction of Police Commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Law and Order Shantharaju, DCP Crime and Traffic Hanumantharaya and ACP CCRB Valentine D’Souza the operation was carried out by CCB inspector Sunil Naik, PSI Shyam Sunder and team.
