Bantwal: Two women were caught by the pro-Hindu organizations while they were involved in efforts at religious conversion and handed over to the rural police station at Bantwal.

The incident occurred on 5th September, Tuesday at Uggabettu in Kavalapadoor village in the taluk.

According to the sources, two women identified as Mercy from Bejai, Mangaluru and Rosalina of Vittal in the taluk, went to about five to six houses belonging to Hindu families when male members of these families were away, distributed pamphlets brought out by their organization, and tried to convince the people present there to get converted into their religion.

These women belong to an organization known as 'New Life' and are accused of visiting homes of Hindus in Uggabettu area and distributing pamphlets and preaching them to convert to their religion.

However, some of the activists involved with Hindu organizations were alerted about the incident, who then rushed to the spot and handed the women over to police station with the help of local women. Later, they also visited the rural police station here and registered a complaint regarding the matter.

Both the women were released by the police after intensive questioning and warning them of indulging in such activities.
