Bhatkal: A tragic incident occurred near Jali Beach when a five-year-old child died after accidentally falling into the swimming pool of a resort. The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Mustaqeem Shaikh, son of Maulavi Shahidullah, a teacher at a local madrasa.

According to family members, the child was at the resort with his mother and younger sister, waiting for his father to arrive. During this time, the mother walked a few steps ahead to help her daughter attend nature’s call, when the child reportedly slipped and fell into the swimming pool, which is around five feet deep.

The mother immediately rushed to rescue him and pulled him out of the water. A few youngsters who were present outside the resort also rushed in to assist and attempted to revive the child by expelling water from his body. They administered CPR and tried their best to restore his breathing. He was then taken to a nearby private hospital, but doctors declared that he was brought dead. The tragic incident occurred at around 5 PM on Thursday.

The body was later shifted to the Taluk Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination, after which the remains were handed over to the family at around 8 PM.

It has been learned that the child was an LKG student at a local madrasa. As the news spread, madrasa teachers and several community members arrived at the government hospital to console the grieving family. When the body was taken to the residence near Imam Shafi Mosque in Azad Nagar, a large crowd gathered and expressed deep sorrow over the heartbreaking loss.

Family sources said that the funeral prayer would be held at midnight at Tanzeem Millia Masjid in Nawayath Colony.

The Bhatkal town Police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
