Bhatkal: In an incident which took place at an anganwadi in Belke, the miscreants entered the building by dismantling its roof and carried out a search operation on belongings of the centre. The place was left disorganized probably by the hunt carried out by the miscreants.

When the miscreants failed to find anything of their interest, the Shenga sweets which were brought for the children of anganwadi were filched by them. No other thing was reported missing from the place. The exact reason behind the mischief was not clear. It is being doubted that the miscreants must have contaminated the food products meant for with the intension of troubling the anganwadi staff.

Tahsildar VN Bodkar, taluka panchayat officer CT Naik, CPI Suresh Naik, medical officer Moorti Bhat, women department officer Shridevi Bhat reached the concerned spot and carried out the needed investigations. Dog squad from Karwar was also sought on the spot and the efforts to locate the miscreants with the help of foot prints are being carried out. Belke gram panchayat president Ramesh Naik has condemned the incident.

A case has been registered at Bhatkal rural police stations and the investigations are being carried out under SI Chandawar.
