Bhatkal: The body of an unidentified man was recovered from the Arabian Sea, about 10 nautical miles from Bhatkal port and near Netrani Island. Police suspect that the man may have drowned and died around six to seven days ago.
According to police, the deceased was aged around 40 to 50 years, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and fair-complexioned. He was wearing brown shorts. A sword mark and a red thread were found on his right hand.
Police said the face had been damaged by marine creatures, making it difficult to establish the identity of the deceased at present.
Coastal Security PSI Veena Chitrapur has lodged a complaint at the Murdeshwar Police Station in connection with the incident. Police have launched an investigation to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the exact cause of death.
