Bhatkal: The sixth edition of Bhatkal Premier League (BPL) 2017, T20 leather ball cricket tournament will begin in Dubai from 27th January 2017. The tournament will be spread across five Fridays, and will begin on 27th January 2017, and the finals will be scheduled on 24th February 2017. The tournament will be held at the Fairgrounds Oval, Ajman, for the second time in a row.

Four teams from the previous BPL 2016 have been retained, while another four teams are yet to be selected. The registration for the teams will begin from 4th November 2016. The last date to submit the applications for the team entry will be on 25th November 2016, as announced by the BPL Chairman Ateequr Rahman Muniri in a press conference held on Wednesday, at the Hotel Royal Oak, Bhatkal. 

Player registration forms will be available from 20th December 2016, and entries will close on 4th January 2017.  Auctioning of players will start on 13th January 2017 and will be held at the Deira Twin Tower Function Hall, Dubai. Players should hold employment visa. Forms can also be collected from BPL GC members.

The excitement level among the enthusiasts is already building up and the BPL Governing Council is looking forward for the support from young Bhatkallis.

Attequr Rahman stated that since all the past five seasons of BPL have been such a great success, they are hoping to receive more entries of new teams. The tournament will only include eight teams and a draw will occur if any more than four teams are selected.   

Bhatkal players working at different companies from all over United Arab Emirates will be participating in the tournament. 
At the press meet, Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation General Secretary Moulan Irfan SM Nadvi, Taha Muallim, Irshad Ruknuddin, Mohammed Imran Khateeb, Abdul Basith Subedar, Faiyaz Udayawar and many more were present.
