
Bhatkal: Dr Mohammed Ghous Bagh Siraj, former principal of Anjuman Arts, Science and Commerce College in Bhatkal, died at the age of 82 in his native village of Kudchi in Belagavi district.
Dr Bagh Siraj served as principal of the college from 1979 to 1995, contributing to the academic development of hundreds of students through his leadership and guidance.
A distinguished educationist, scholar and respected academic, he was known for his sincerity, humility, courteous nature and dedication to duty. He was also an accomplished professor of economics.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons. His wife is reportedly unwell, and the family has appealed for prayers for her recovery and long life.
The funeral prayers were held at a mosque in Kudchi after Maghrib prayers, followed by burial at a local cemetery. Representatives of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, Bhatkal, including Yasin Askari and S.M. Parvez, along with Salman Jubapu, Ajaib Shamsuddin Basha and several other members of the Bhatkal community, attended the funeral. His former students and relatives were also present in large numbers.
Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, Majlis Islah-wa-Tanzeem, Bhatkal Muslim Khaleej Council and other organisations have expressed deep grief over Dr Bagh Siraj’s demise. They have prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul and for his elevation to the highest ranks in Jannatul Firdaus.
