Bhatkal: In an incident reported at Makhdoom colony of Bhatkal, a man was arrested for attacking his wife with a knife and causing her grave injuries.

The accused have been identified as Yaseen Kazi (32), a resident of Makhdoom Colony.

According to the sources, Yaseen was married to Shaiqa Haroon Kazi, a resident of the same colony and his relative, for the past five years. It is reported that Shaiqa was constantly harassed by her husband for the last few months and hence, she was living with her family. 

It is reported that on Wednesday, Yaseen came to her parent's house at 3 am and locked all the room doors from the outside and then stabbed his wife in the stomach. When the family members tried to come to her rescue, it was found that the rooms were locked from outside. Eventually, she was taken to Bhatkal government hospital and later shifted to a private hospital. 

However, Shaiqa's family did not want to register a police complaint, rather informed the Bhatkal Qazi to file for divorce. Meanwhile on Friday, Yaseen called his wife on mobile and threatened to kill her if she divorces him. In evening, when he came to her place, he was caught by her family members and then handed over to the police. 

A case has been registered at Bhatkal town police station.
