Bhatkal: In a road accident which involved multi vehicles collision on NH66 near Ranginkatte in Bhatkal on 11th November, the critically injured Auto rickshaw driver, succumbed to the injuries today on Monday morning after being unable to overcome the pains. 

The deceased is Nagesh Santamma Naik (50), a resident of Tengingundi in Heble village in the taluk.

Soon after his death, the Auto rickshaw service in the town was kept closed without being operating for a day as a symbol of condolence to the deceased. It is said that the locals were astonished after noticing no rickshaws on the roads.

It can be recalled that after the mishap, a woman who was travelling as a passenger in rickshaw was killed on the spot and driver Nagesh had sustained critical injuries, and was rushed to Manipal hospital.

With this, the death toll in the accident has increased to two.
