Bhatkal: The recent Bhatkal Jali Pattan panchayath elections had seen a Tanzeem rebel win against the Tanzeem nominated candidate, which had become talk of the town. There was lots of hue and cry going on the matter. Even the Bhatkal MLA Mankal Vaidya was blamed of betraying Tanzeem and trying to break Tanzeem’s unity. It was told that he was not just responsible for bringing a new member on the ground but also winning the election with the help of votes from BJP, Congress, independent candidate and a few Tanzeem members.

A committee had been setup by the Tanzeem for investigating the same issue which included Maulana Syed Zubair and Irshad Gawai, who were trying to bring forth the reasons which led to the rebellion in election. When they tried to interact with the MLA to get into the matter, MLA Vaidya accepted of him helping the rebel Abdul Rahim to win the post of president. Clarifying his part he said that the Tanzeem decisions were taken in favour of the JDS leader Inayatulla Shabandari. ‘In the name of Tanzeem they help JDS leader to win the election. We get a JDS member in opposition, because of which, we, the Congress members had to face problems. What shall we do if this is the case? Whom shall we support?’ he questioned. He said that he had brought that issue in Tanzeem’s notice as well, but the Tanzeem did not react. He said that as JDS leader Inayatullah Shabandari was in ground even in this particular Jali Pattan panchayath election, he had to get the Congress member register a win and so his party men had done that.

Addition to this, he said that he had a great respect to Tanzeem and he never had an intention to break Tanzeem’s unity. “I will always be the first one to support Tanzeem in betterment of the society”, he said.

Further he said that when it came to party politics he had to support Congress and would not be able to help Tanzeem, as helping Tanzeem is equivalent to helping JDS. He also appealed to Tanzeem not to get into party politics and remain a neutral body for the betterment of society.

After this interaction, it is awaited as to what report will the committee submit and based on the report what step will the Tanzeem further take to resolve the issue.
