Bhatkal: Regarding the new GST Tax policy, both the merchants as well as consumers are in confusion.
In order to fulfill the registration and other legal norms regarding GST, merchants from Bhatkal have to travel 40 km to Honnavar and this has caused inconvenience to them.
For this purpose, Nagarika Vedike Bhatkal have submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner requesting to establish tax office in Bhatkal.
While handing the memorandum, Vedike stated that the merchants from Bhatkal have to spend a whole day in order to fulfill all the norms regarding GST. It is to be noted that most of the trade tax in the district is from Bhatkal taluk.
Merchants from Bhatkal especially small vendors are facing a lot of trouble due to lack of knowledge regarding GST. If a tax office is set up in Bhatkal, it will benefit the merchants as well as for the customers.
Hence, the Vedike has demanded to establish an office in town to provide convenience to both customers and vendors.
On this occasion, Honorable Vedike President Advocate Dattatarya Naik, president Pascal Gomes, Shivakumar, A N Pai, Abdurrashid, Shridhar Naik, Nagesh Devadiga and others were present.
