Bhatkal: The Bhatkal Taluka Journalist Association is about to complete its 25 years in year 2017, based on which the association has announced to celebrate its silver jubilee the coming year.
Presiding over a general body meeting, the president of Bhatkal Taluka Journalist Association Mr. Radha Krishna Bhat has said that the association was founded in January 1993. The association had successfully completed its 24 years of functioning and is about to enter its silver jubilee year. Therefore the association has decided that a grand silver jubilee would be celebrated to mark its anniversary. The inaugural ceremony would be held in January 2017 with beautiful cultural program. Various social, cultural and entertainment programs would be conducted throughout the year. And terminatory ceremony would be held in January 2018 where various eminent journalists and intellectual personalities would be invited.
Citing the details, Mr. Bhat said that committees based on respected personalities of society would be formed to frame various programs. As a memorial for the silver jubilee year the association has decided to adopt a remote village and provide it with basic necessities and assist it in developing in the field of education, health etc. The plan for this task was under view, he informed. Also, a magnificent souvenir would be published on the occasion in Kannada and Urdu languages which would include write-ups on various topics, photos related to Bhatkal taluk and information regarding the general life of public here.
The association would encourage 25 famous personalities on the occasion, which would include senior journalists and renowned social characters. The journalists would be awarded as the confession of their services and these awards would be named according to the famous personalities. Initiating it from the silver jubilee year is under consideration he said.
The former president of the association and member of district committee Raghavendra Hebbar, general secretary Bhaskar Naik, senior vice president Raza Manvi, member of district administrative committee Fayyaz Mulla, Bhavani Shankar Naik, Ansar Aziz Nadwi, Syed Ahmed Salik, Prasanna Bhat, Raghavendra Mallya and others were present in the meeting.
