Bhatkal: As part of the Election Commission of India's month-long Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being conducted simultaneously across Karnataka, citizens have been urged to actively participate in the exercise aimed at identifying genuine electors and removing ineligible entries from the voters' list to strengthen the foundations of democracy.

As part of the Election Commission's Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, the Taluk SVEEP Committee, in association with the Bengre Gram Panchayat, organised a cleanliness drive at the Government Higher Primary School, Bengre, to create awareness about the SIR.

Addressing the students after the programme, Bengre Gram Panchayat Development Officer Ramesh Naik appealed to the public to cooperate with the SIR process and help make the campaign a success.

The programme was attended by the school's headmaster, teachers and Gram Panchayat staff.

Meanwhile, a voter awareness rally on the SIR was organised at Yelvadikavoor Gram Panchayat under the leadership of Panchayat Development Officer Jayanthi Naik. Gram Panchayat staff and college lecturers participated in the awareness rally.
