Bhatkal: Bhatkal Sub-Division’s new Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ranu Gupta, IPS, seized six tipper lorries and detained six persons in a crackdown on illegal sand transportation within 24 hours of taking charge.
According to sources, the operation was conducted under the leadership of ASP Ranu Gupta from 11 pm on September 1 to 3 am on September 2 in the jurisdiction of Manki and Murdeshwar police stations.
Three tipper lorries carrying sand were seized in the Manki police station limits, while another three were seized in the Murdeshwar police station limits.
Six persons identified as Harish, Ajith, Anand, Prakash, Maruti and Nazir were detained during the operation. Cases have been registered at Manki and Murdeshwar police stations in connection with the illegal transportation of sand, and further investigation is underway.
