Bhatkal: Social conference on SIR and Voter mapping held; Helpline centres to be set up soon

Bhatkal: A social conference on SIR and voter mapping was organised by the Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation at Nawayat Colony, during which it was announced that helpline centres would soon be established under the Tanzeem’s supervision to assist with documentation and verification processes.

Addressing the gathering, Federation General Secretary Mubasshir Hussain Hallare provided information on SIR to coordinators of various sports centres, including participants from Murdeshwar and Manki.

He said that after demonetisation, the CAA–NRC exercise and debates on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), efforts are now being made to delete voters’ names through SIR, making it essential for young citizens to keep their documents in order. He urged youths to immediately verify their names in the voter list and clarified that Aadhaar cards, ration cards and voter IDs are currently not accepted for SIR verification. He also announced that similar awareness programmes would be organised in Murdeshwar and Manki.

Speaking on the occasion, young advocate and Federation Vice-President Imran Lanka explained the legal aspects of SIR, public concerns and common issues faced during voter verification. He cautioned that genuine voters could lose their names from the electoral rolls if documentation issues are not resolved in time.

The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Maulavi Syed Salik Barmawar Nadvi and concluded with a vote of thanks by Federation President Maulana Wasiullah DF. Advocate Afaq Kola, Social Committee Secretary Zaheer Shaikh, and other office-bearers were also present.
