Tippu Jayanthi to be celebrated in Bhatkal; processions, rallies banned till evening of 11 November

Bhatkal: The Karnataka government has decided to celebrate Tippu Sultan Jyanthi on 10th of November across the state.

In the wake of protests against the celebration of Tipu Jayanti on November 10 and taking into consideration of the untoward incidents of last year, the district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 till 6 pm of November 11 as a precautionary measure. Public meetings, processions and rallies are banned during this period. The prohibitory order was issued by the Tahsildar VN Bodkar in Bhatkal.

In a press release, it was informed that a program would be held in the memory of great warrior and the generous ruler of Mysore Tippu Sultan at the Bhatkal Urban Bank Hall at 10am of 10th November. The masses are appealed to attend the program in great numbers and make it a success.
