Bhatkal: Around 53 kgs of plastic carry bags were seized by the Bhatkal TMC officials during the raid that was conducted at Sunday Bazaar (Sante market) in Bhatkal.

"Even though there is a ban on usage of plastic bags, the shopkeepers still continue to use it secretly. Severe action will be taken against those following such illegal activities after series of warnings", said TMC senior health officer Soujiya Suman.

Further speaking, junior health officer of TMC, Ajay Bhandarkar said, "Alerts have been made couple of times through the sources of medias, brochures etc. Shockingly, few shopkeepers have taken the move lightly. If such acts continue without any fears, then it will make necessary for the department to take stern action".

A total of 53 kgs of plastic bags were seized on Sunday.
