Bhatkal: Eleven gram panchayats of Uttara Kannada district were awarded with the Gandhi Gram Award on account of the overall development of the year 2015-16 by the Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

The program which was held at Palace Ground of Bengaluru on Sunday evening was attended by HK Patil, Karnataka minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Union minister Ramesh Jigajinagi, Members of Assembly Patna Shetty, Shrinivas Mane, P Raju, Najin Math, Ivon Dsouza, Dr. Sudhakar, Uttara Kannada Zilla panchayat president Jayshree Moger and many others. The presidents and panchayat development officers of 11 panchayats including Bhatkal Hadvlli, Honnaver Mavin Kurve, Kumta Nadumaskere , Ankola Belse, Sirsi Utgi, Siddapur Kolsirsi, Joida and others were also present in the program.
