Bhatkal: A 24-year-old youth was killed on the spot after he was hit by the Matsyagandha Express train while walking alongside the Konkan Railway track near Kembre in Shirali village on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Yogesh Manju Gonda, a resident of Hudeel in Hadavalli village.
According to sources, it is still unclear whether the incident was a tragic accident or if the youth deliberately stepped onto the track to commit suicide. Further clarity is awaited.
Following the incident, the victim’s father, Manju Gonda, filed a complaint at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station, and police have registered a case and begun an investigation.
