Bhatkal youth killed in road accident in Mangaluru

Bhatkal: A youth from Bhatkal was killed in a road accident that occurred in Mangaluru. The deceased has been identified as Ifham, son of Sameer Shabandari (18), a resident of Azad Nagar, Bhatkal.

According to a close relative of the deceased, Fahad Shabandari, five friends of similar age had set out from Bhatkal on a leisure trip to Kerala. While entering Mangaluru city, their car reportedly went out of control and crashed into the Kuloor Bridge. The accident occurred around 1.30 am in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

Due to the impact of the collision, Ifham was thrown out of the vehicle and sustained severe internal injuries, resulting in his death on the spot. Another youth, Mohammed Malpa (20), was injured in the accident and suffered a leg fracture. He has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment, while the remaining occupants of the car escaped unhurt.

It is learnt that Ifham had completed his madrasa education and was preparing for his SSLC (Class 10) examinations.

After the post-mortem examination in Mangaluru, the body is being brought to Bhatkal. The funeral prayers will be offered at the Bhatkal Jamia Masjid after Isha prayers, following which the burial will take place at the nearby graveyard.
