Bhatkal: Padma Shree award winner, Famous Kannada poet and writer Mr. K.S. Nisar Ahmed inaugurated the grand silver jubilee celebration of Bhatkal Taluka Working Journalist Association at Gurusudhindra College ground Bhatkal on 7 January. In his key speech, chief guest Nisar Ahmed mentioned that Kannada newspaper's have 175 years of history but now a days Kannadigas are ignoring this rich language. He called upon the people to be united and to protect and promote this language. Talking about journalism, he said the reality of journalism is to highlight the real issues of public with sincerity. "Media also plays a major role in promoting language. But due to a lack of interest in literature the majority are ignoring to read Kannada newspapers", he added.
He critised Media, film and TV channels who are wasting their time on unneccessary debates. "Their main motive is to increase the TRP of their channel". He addressed the reporters and advised them that to remove any bias in their hearts. He was surprised that many reporters don't have the knowledge of journalism, are not educated in knowing how to report incidents and events and are uninformed about many languages and to represent news in the media field. They must be trained well and only then can be sent for reporting.
Praising the Bhatkal's Nawayath community, Mr. Nisar Ahmed said that the Nawayath community is well organized and well sophisticated about their religion. They are well integrated with the other communities like Namdhari, Gonda and other old communities. He also appreciated Bhatkal working journalist association for their remarkable work and organizing this wonderful event.
Bhatkal MLA Mankal Vaidya who presided the ceremony, said that the members of working journalist association are performing appreciable work. If the media will highlight the issues of public to their representatives then it will help in solving their problems. On this occasion the cover story editor Miss Lakshmi Shebroor was awarded with “Karavali Ratna Award”. Miss Lakshmi said that “Journalists must achieve the trust and confidence of the people, and they should have the ability to face the situations. If journalists are getting the people's support then the journalist can bring the truth in a strong manner.”
Zilla panchayath president, Jaishree Moger inaugurated the website of Bhatkal Taluka working journalist association. State president of Karnataka working journalist association N.Raju, Kannada actor Prem, Writer Syed Zameerullah Shareef, Naamdhaari community president D.B. Naik, Tanzeem General Secretary Mohiddin Altaf Kharuri, Bhatkal education trust manager Rajesh Naik, President of Uttara Kannada Journalist Association Subraya Bhatt Bakkal, Big Boss star Anupama Bhatt and actor Shreya Shanchar were present on the stage.
President of Bhatkal taluka Journalist Association Mr. Radha Krishna Bhatt highligted the future events of silver Jubilee program, Vice president M R Manvi welcomed the guest, Kalpana Hegde Honnavar and School teacher Shridhar Shet were compering the event. General Secretary Bhaskar Naik proposed a vote of thanks. President of Kannada Sahitya Parishad Gangadhar Naik sang the poem of Dr Zameerullah Shareef. Comedian Ramesh Babu entertained the aucidence. Rajaram Prabhu from Jhankaar Melodious entertained with his voice. Later the state level dance competition started with full force of entertainment, which lasted till around 3 am. More than 10 thousand people participated in the event and enjoyed the program.
