Bhatkal: In a ghastly incident, a bike rider lost his life when his bike collided with a bolero car at Gorte National Highway near Shiroor border today.

The deceased bike rider has been identified as Abdul Hameed(50).

According to the sources, he was travelling from his native Nagoor when his bike collided with a Bolero car approaching from the opposite direction at Shiroor.

The impact of the accident was so intense that the bike was found rammed inside the car. The bike rider sustained serious injuries on his head and his leg was also severed and as a result died on the spot.

It is learnt that the body was suspended in between the car and bike for fifteen minutes and no one came forward to help. Finally, some youths from Bhatkal who were coming to Bhatkal immediately shifted the body to the Bhatkal government hospital. 

It is learnt that Abdul Hameed is the uncle of Sahilonline correspondent Ibrahim MH Gangulli and earned his living by selling the parothas at Nagoor and was on the way to Bhatkal to buy the same. 

As soon as the news spread, many people crowded at the Bhatkal hospital and paid their condolences. JDS leader and vice president of Tanzeem Inayatullah Shabandri, social worker Nisar Ahmed, Nazeer Kasimji, Sahilonline editor and staff, PSI Manjappa and others were present at the hospital.

A case has been registered at Bhatkal rural police station.
