Karwar: The BJP workers took out a protest rally in Karwar on Saturday and staged a protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s office, demanding resignation of Minister K J George.

The workers stated that owing to moral responsibility into the death incident of DySP Ganapati, George should step down from his post and co-operate with the CBI officials. They said, names of few police department higher officials too has come to light into the death incident and they too should be kept under suspension till the CBI conducts inquiry, they demanded.

The BJP workers said, the CBI bending to the political pressure has downplayed the incident and in a hurry, has submitted a ‘B” report giving a clean chit to Minister George. This apart, the CBI has tampered the CCTV footage in the lodge wherein Ganapati had allegedly committed suicide. Even, the mobile phone, computer hard disk have been tampered and some of the key documents have been manipulated, they alleged.

To protect the minister and the higher officials, Chief Minister has handed over this case to the CID. In this way, he has misused his office.

But the Supreme Court has directed for CBI inquiry, which is a welcome move, they said.

Only by CBI inquiry, justice could be delivered to the honest cop, they added. If Minister George fails to resign, Mr Siddaramaiah should ouster him from the Cabinet, they demanded.

Protest was led by Manoj Bhat, Nagaraj Nayak, Ganapati Ulwekar and others.
