Mangaluru: A fisherman lost his life after a traditional boat engaged in fishing at Thotabengre estuary capsized on Friday night. Another fisherman who was on the boat was rescued. 

The deceased is identified as Naushad (24) of Bengre, while local youths managed to rescue Afrid (25).

Sources said that the duo were fishing at 10 PM. At the same time, a deep sea fishing boat passed through the area, which created a huge wave causing the traditional boat to capsize.

The body of Naushad was recovered on Saturday morning.

A case has been registered in the Panambur Police Station.
