Udupi: The body of a 16-year-old boy, who had drowned in a pond in Karkunje village of Kundapur taluk was fished out on Wednesday morning.

The teenager was identified as Kiran.

Sources said that Kiran was on his way to school when he found a group of monkeys and began chasing it. While on it, Kiran lost his footing and fell into the pond. His parents, who were unaware of the incident, had launched a search for Kiran. His body was traced on Wednesday, when his father Rajeev Shetty dived into the pond.

A case has been registered in Kundapur police station.
